Women’s Soccer Upended by No. 18 NYU, 3-0

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (5-5-2) was upended by visiting No. 18 NYU (9-2), 3-0, Oct. 8.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Violets seized a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute with a through ball, quick touch and conversion of a 1v1 opportunity in the box.
  • A quick one-time of a pass from the right end line made it a 2-0 margin in the 50th minute, and a blast from 23 yards out on the left wing pushed NYU ahead 3-0 in the 54th minute.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) made five saves during the first 73:00 for the Pioneers, and freshman Brooke Sachau (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) added two stops during the final 17:00 of action.
  • WP had its best scoring opportunities during the 68th minute, but Violet defender saves on the goal line denied the Pioneers a pair of goals.
