Volleyball Earns 3-0 Senior Night Victory over Brooklyn

Pioneers top Bulldogs 25-14, 25-15, 25-18 to close out season

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson volleyball (12-11) closed out the 2019 season with a 3-0 Senior Night victory over Brooklyn College (14-11) Oct. 31.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP held Brooklyn to a -.094 hitting percentage (nine kills, 12 errors, 32 attempts) in the opener en route to a 25-14 triumph. Holding onto an 8-6 lead in the second, the Pioneers used a 13-2 run to pull away and register a 25-15 win. With the Bulldogs ahead 7-6 in the third, the Pioneers scored 12 straight points to build a commanding lead on their way to the 25-18 decision.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior outside hitter Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) finished her WP career by collecting a team-high 12 kills, while sophomore Jamie O'Shea (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and freshman Gabriella Pimentel (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) finished with eight and six, respectively.
  • Senior libero Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) tallied 14 digs in her WP finale, the 25th time in her career she notched double-digit digs. Sophomore Camryn Norman (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) ended with 10 digs and a career-best six aces.
  • Sophomore setter Kristin Volavka (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) handed out 25 assists and finished the season with 661, the eighth best single-season total in program history.
  • Prior to the match, William Paterson honored its two seniors: Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) and Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus).
