Women’s Soccer Cruises to 3-1 Victory Against Rutgers-Newark

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (6-7-2, 2-4-1 NJAC) got goals from three different Pioneers for a 3-1 home victory against Rutgers-Newark (9-7-2, 1-4-2 NJAC) Oct. 23.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior midfielder Danielle Dachowski's (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) right-footed shot resulted in her third goal of the season and a 1-0 Pioneer lead in the 32nd minute.
  • Senior midfielder Lorraine Moffitt (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) converted her fourth penalty kick of the season, doubling WP's advantage at the 62:34 mark.
  • After the Scarlet Raiders made it a 2-1 game in the 84th minute, senior midfielder Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) one-timed a deflection three minutes later for the final goal of the night.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) made two saves for the Pioneers.
  • Adelman's 11th goal of the season increased her career totals to 61 goals and 139 points, the third-best totals in WP history.
  • With two regular-season matches remaining, WP sits in seventh place in the league standings, one spot away from the final berth for the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament.
