Women’s Soccer Comeback Fall Shorts at Kean, 3-2

Moffitt, Kristen Bowe Score for Pioneers

UNION, N.J. – William Paterson (5-7-2, 1-4-1 NJAC) pulled to within one late, but couldn't come up with the equalizer as the Pioneers dropped a 3-2 women's soccer decision at Kean (7-7-1, 3-3-1 NJAC) Oct. 19.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Cougars struck first with a dribble and shot from close range less than three minutes into the contest.
  • WP leveled the score at 1-1 when senior midfielder Lorraine Moffitt (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) converted her third penalty kick of the season.
  • Kean added two more goals before the break, scoring in the 36th and 42nd minutes for a 3-1 halftime advantage.
  • The Pioneers cut the lead in half at the 81:19 mark when senior midfielder Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) headed home her fifth goal of the year.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) made two saves for the Pioneers.
  • With three regular-season matches remaining, WP sits in seventh place in the league standings, one spot away from the final berth for the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament.
