WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson's tennis team (0-11, 0-6 NJAC) earned a pair of singles wins and doubles triumph during a 6-3 Senior Day setback to conference opponent Kean (9-6, 2-4 NJAC) Oct. 18.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The pairing of senior Nicole D'Ascoli (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) and sophomore Ashley Sawyer (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) gave the Pioneers their first point of the match after registering an 8-6 victory in second doubles.
• In the third doubles flight, junior Carly McDaniel (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton) and sophomore Anna Nunziato (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) dropped a back-and-forth affair 7-8 (13-15).
• At second singles, Sawyer posted a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win over Kean's Samantha Luu.
• Following the doubles defeat, McDaniel regrouped and claimed her sixth straight singles triumph this season, downing Nicole Nin 6-4, 6-1.  
• Prior to the match, WP honored seniors Nicole D'Ascoli (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne), Julienn Guzman (Jersey City, N.J./Liberty) and Kaworu Ishikawa (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.).
