Four Swimmers Claim Two Wins Apiece as Women's Swimming and Diving Edges Old Westbury, 75-66

Santonastaso, Starace, Jenkins, and Friedman Earned Top Points for WP

WAYNE, N.J. – Four Pioneers won two events apiece as the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (2-0) notched a 75-66 victory over Old Westbury (0-1) Oct. 15.

TOP PERFORMERS:

Sophomore Leah Santonastaso (Newton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) was the first to touch the wall in the 1000 free (13:25.24). She also claimed first in the 500 free (6:30.14) to notch two individual victories for the night.
Jillian Starace (Toms River/Toms River East) tallied two wins, one in the 200 free (2:23.96). The freshman also touched first in the 100 free with a time of 1:05.31.
Senior Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) swept two events against the Panthers. She touched first in the 50 free (29.86) for nine points, then later beat her competition in the 100 breast (1:18.93).
Taylor Friedman (South Amboy, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) repeated her double-winning performance from Saturday, again notching first place in the 200 IM and the 100 back. The sophomore swam the first race in 2:35.82 and the second race in 1:12.05.
The divers did not disappoint, each earning first place in different events. Senior Ashley Lawler (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) posted 199.70 points in the three-meter dive, while junior Sara Haller (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) collected 198.65 points in the one-meter event.
Senior Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) contributed nine points for the Pioneers in the 100 fly (1:11.19).
