WAYNE, N.J. –Despite double-digit saves from goalie
Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional), the William Paterson field hockey team (4-6, 0-1 NJAC) fell 8-1 to No. 9 Rowan (10-0, 1-0 NJAC) on Sept. 29.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rowan's Bridget Guinan contributed to the Prof's scoring efforts in the 17th minute off of an assist by Kristiina Castagnola and again in the 42nd minute unassisted
- Rowan's Bridget Boyle also scored twice, once in the 21st minute and another in the 54th minute
- A third Prof, Rachel Galante, collected two goals, one in the 31st minute and her second in the 34th minute
- Castagnola helped her team again, this time by scoring in the 32nd minute off of an assist from Galante
- Krystyna Hovell found success in the circle for Rowan in the 40th minute
- The Pioneers did not allow a shutout thanks to sophomore midfielder Kristin Freas-Papa (Westville, N.J./Gateway Regional) converting a penalty stroke in the 44th minute
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior goalie Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) earned 12 saves
- Three Pioneers recorded defensive saves: two by sophomore forward Sara Haller (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista), one by Freas-Papa, and one by junior back Alexis Land (Monroe, N.J./Monroe Twp.)
