WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (5-6, 1-1 NJAC) recorded their first NJAC victory this season by defeating Ramapo (3-7, 0-2 NJAC) in overtime on Oct. 2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Although each team took six shots, four from each being on goal, the game was tied 0-0 at halftime
- The Pioneers controlled the ball for most of the second half, and despite taking 8 corners, the game was still scoreless at the end of regulation
- Junior midfielder Shannon Super (Oaklyn, N.J./Collingswood) scored the goal to end the overtime contest in an unassisted shot from the top of the circle
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior goalie Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) earned eight saves to record her third shutout of the season
- Super's successful shot was her second goal of the season and fifth of her career
- This is William Paterson's fourth victory over Ramapo in the past five years
