WAYNE, N.J. – Coming off their best showing of the season, the William Paterson tennis team (0-5, 0-3 NJAC) couldn't finish off Rutgers-Camden (4-1, 2-1 NJAC), dropping a 6-3 decision on Sept. 28.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Pioneers recorded the first point of the afternoon, as the tandem of Kaworu Ishikawa (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) and Jiyeon Kang (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen ) bested Camden's Morgan Dempsey and Hannah Cohan, 8-1, in second doubles.
• Freshman Samantha Cruz (Andover, N.J./Central ) took the first set of the fifth singles match before falling to Cohan in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 10-2.
• Classmate Ashley Sawyer (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills), playing in the third singles position for the first time, challenged Camden's LeAnne Hall throughout, before dropping the match, 6-2, 6-4.
