Early Goal Not Enough for Men’s Soccer Against Montclair State, 3-1

Adams Hands Pioneers Ninth-Minute Lead

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – An early goal gave the William Paterson men's soccer team (5-3-1, 1-2 NJAC) the lead, but Montclair State (9-1-1, 3-0 NJAC) scored three second-half goals for a 3-1 win Sept. 26.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers turned their only shot on frame of the first half into the night's first goal. Junior midfielder Cameron Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./Saint John Vianney) took a free kick that deflected towards the goal, and classmate Kyle Adams (Bordentown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) pounced on the ball near the goal line, ensuring that it found the back of the net for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 WP edge at the 8:26 mark.
  • Junior forward Nixon Soglo fired a shot to inside the right post to get the Red Hawks on the scoreboard in the 71st minute, then converted a breakaway opportunity for a 2-1 MSU edge six minutes later.
  • Senior midfielder Jake Seaman finished the scoring with a shot under the crossbar at the 87:35 mark.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior goalkeeper Kyle Quigley (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) compiled eight saves for the Pioneers.

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson continues its homestand Saturday, Sept. 29, against The College of New Jersey at 1:00 p.m.
