Tennis Falls to Stockton in Conference Clash

PONOMA, N.J. – The William Paterson University women's tennis team (0-3, 0-2 NJAC) dropped their conference match 9-0 to Stockton (3-2, 1-2 NJAC) on Sept.22

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Junior Kaworu Ishikawa (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) took Stockton's Maria Ibarra to three sets before dropping her first singles match 6-2, 5-7, 10-3.
Ashley Sawyer (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) won three games, two in the first and one in the second before falling to Kristen McCormick 6-2, 6-0 in their third singles match.
Samantha Cruz (Andover, N.J./Central ) and Delia Rodriguez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Technical Institute ) both won games in their respective singles competitions.
The tandem of Ishikawa and Jiyeon Kang (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen ) battled in the first doubles flight, take a pair of games before being defeated 8-2.

UP NEXT:

The Pioneers travel to Manhattanville for a non-conference match on Thursday, Sept. 27. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
