Men’s Soccer Secures First Conference Victory with Overtime Win at New Jersey City, 2-1

Allen Contributes Both Goals, Quigley Makes 10 Saves

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Two Cameron Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./Saint John Vianney) goals, including a penalty kick in overtime, and 10 saves by junior Kyle Quigley (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) lifted the William Paterson men's soccer team (5-2-1, 1-1 NJAC) to a 2-1 triumph at New Jersey City (5-3, 0-2 NJAC) Sept. 22.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Allen handed the Pioneers a 1-0 edge in the 10th minute, blasting a free kick to the right of the wall from outside the 18-yard box.
  • When the Gothic Knights committed a foul inside the box 3:50 into the overtime session, Allen stepped up and buried the penalty kick to the lower-right corner of the frame for the game-winning goal.
  • Freshman Edric De Paula leveled the score at 1-1 for NJCU with his bending free kick at the 81:09 mark.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior goalkeeper Kyle Quigley (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) stopped 10 shots for WP, matching his career best.
  • A total of 45 fouls were called, and 10 cards were issued.
