Men’s Soccer Falls to No. 12 Franklin and Marshall, 3-0

Pioneers’ Early Chances Don’t Find Back of Net Against Diplomats

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (4-2-1) couldn't convert a pair of early chances, eventually suffering a 3-0 loss to visiting No. 12 Franklin and Marshall (6-0-1) Sept. 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Diplomats used a long ball from right back Ryan Hannum and a 1v1 finish by senior Ryan Fincher for a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.
  • Senior Ugo Okolie stole the ball, carried it up the right side and found the left side of the net for a 2-0 edge less than one minute into the second half.
  • Senior Jim Connolly's shot was deflected by a Pioneer defender for an own goal in the 65th minute.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior goalkeeper Kyle Quigley (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) collected eight saves for WP.
  • The Pioneers had two excellent first-half opportunities, but junior forward Keysean Brant-Sharp's (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) breakaway and shot were snuffed out by F&M keeper Sebastian Jenkins in the 24th minute, and classmate Cameron Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./Saint John Vianney) drilled one off the left post with less than seven minutes on the clock.

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson goes to New Jersey City Saturday, Sept. 22, at 1:00 p.m.
