Men’s Soccer Has Unbeaten Streak Snapped at Rowan, 1-0

Pioneers Drop Conference Opener Despite Tallying More Shots on Goal

GLASSBORO, N.J. – William Paterson (4-1-1, 0-1 NJAC) had a dangerous opportunity to level the score during the closing seconds, but Rowan (5-2, 1-0 NJAC) was able to fend off the Pioneers for a 1-0 win Sept. 15 during both teams' New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) men's soccer opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Neither side was able to cash in on its chances until the 78th minute, when Prof senior Ryan Campbell tapped in a cross from junior Modou Sowe.
  • The Pioneers had several cracks at the equalizer, including a Jordan Saling (Haledon, N.J./Paramus Catholic) shot that deflected off a Rowan defender and was collected at the post by the keeper as time expired.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior goalkeeper Kyle Quigley (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) made a total of four saves for WP.
  • Despite being outshot 15-9 overall, William Paterson actually owned a slight edge in shots on goal (6-5).
  • The loss snapped the Pioneers' season-opening five-match unbeaten streak (4-0-1).

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson returns home to face Franklin and Marshall Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 7:00 p.m.
