PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Senior forward
Brandon Harley (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) buried his first goal as a Pioneer in the 86th minute, helping the William Paterson men's soccer team (1-0-1) secure a 3-3 double-overtime draw with SUNY Potsdam (0-1-1) Sept. 1 in the second round of the Best Western Plus Cardinal Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Harley headed in a cross from junior midfielder
Cameron Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./Saint John Vianney) with 4:21 remaining in regulation for a 3-3 tie, forcing the extra time.
Senior forward/midfielder
Jordan Saling (Haledon, N.J./Paramus Catholic) leveled the score at 1-1 at the 10:00 mark when he sent the ball over the charging Bear goalkeeper.
Junior midfielder/forward
Dromo Quaye (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) made it a 2-1 WP advantage in the 22nd minute, finishing a pass from senior back
Zach Perez (Edison, N.J./Rutgers Prep).
Potsdam opened the scoring 3:13 into the contest, then found the back of the net with the equalizer in the 25th minute, and jumped ahead by a 3-2 count in the 50th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Junior goalkeeper
Kyle Quigley (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) collected four saves and was aided by a team save.
Saling and junior forward Keyseasn Brant-Sharp were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Each side was credited with five total shots during the overtime sessions.
