Men’s Basketball Routs Rutgers-Camden, 93-55

CAMDEN, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (5-3, 2-1 NJAC) concluded its impressive week by posting a 93-55 victory over Rutgers-Camden (0-7, 0-3 NJAC) in New Jersey Athletic Conference play Dec. 1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP controlled the action from the opening tip, scoring the game's first eight points. RUC would eventually make it a three-point game (14-11, 10:52), but Myles McLeod's (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) jumper began a 10-0 burst, capped off by Sajimir Asani's (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton) three-pointer off the assist from Domenic Mignone (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford), as the visiting Pioneers never looked back and cruised to a 46-26 advantage at the conclusion of 20 minutes.
  • The second stanza was more of the same as Hershell Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Timber Creek) scored all nine of his points in the second half, while freshman Jared Bennett (Winslow Twp., N.J./Winslow Twp.) took advantage of his extended minutes by scoring eight points on a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor including a pair of high-flying dunks. Malcolm McLeod (Teaneck, N.J./Eastern Christian) enjoyed his best game of the season, finishing with eight points in 11 minutes of action.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Myles McLeod (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) tallied a team-high 16 points and Sean Smith (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) recorded 11, his seventh double-digit scoring output of the season. Mignone, who entered the game with an NJAC-leading 30 assists to his name, led all players with six dimes and three steal to go along with 10 points.
  • Myles McLeod (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) and Justin Lingat (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) shared top honors with five rebounds apiece. As a unit, WP held a 37-25 edge on the glass, including a 19-9 advantage in the first half.

UP NEXT:
  • WP travels to Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday, Dec. 5, for an 8:00 p.m. tilt against the Scarlet Raiders.
