Second Half Surge Propels Pioneers Past Moravian, 78-75

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J.. – Sophomore guard Domenic Mignone (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) posted a game-high 19 points and senior forward Keion Osbourne (Bergenfield, N.J./Pioneer Academy) scored all 10 of his points after intermission as the William Paterson men's basketball team (1-1) held on to upend Moravian College (0-2) 78-75 Nov. 13 in its home opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • With WP holding a slight 18-15 advantage in the first half, Moravian orchestrated a 20-4 run to open a commanding 13-point lead. The Pioneers began to chip away and trailed by four at the break, 40-36.
  • A pair of Osbourne treys midway through the second stanza helped WP erase its deficit and build an 11-point lead. Moravian's shooting from behind the arc kept it close, but six successful free throws in the final minute of play iced the game as William Paterson emerged with the 78-75 decision.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Mignone's 19 tallies came on 6-of-7 (.857) shooting from the field.
  • The Pioneers held the advantage at the free-throw line, making 23 of 37 (.622) attempts as compared to the Greyhound's 6-for-12 (.500) shooting, and owned a 16-7 edge in fast break points.
  • Defensively, Henry Voorhees (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) led all players with nine rebounds and three blocks.
  • On the glass, WP held a 44-31 margin.
