WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (6-7, 1-2 NJAC) came out on top in a 2-0 road game triumph at Misericordia (2-10, 1-2 MAC Freedom) Oct. 9.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman forward Abigail Viola (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Township) worked her way through traffic to find the back of the cage in the 45th minute
- Not long after Viola's goal, junior forward Michaela Meillier (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross) picked up a loose ball in front of the cage and took a successful shot on goal in the 46th minute
- The Pioneer defense held Misericordia to only one shot on goal
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior goalie Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) earned her fourth shutout of the season, tying her season-high record from 2016
- Viola now leads the team this season in goals after collecting her fifth of the season
- Meillier ranks third this season for goals with three goals to her name
