Men's Swimming and Diving Out-Touches in the 200 Free Relay, but Falls to SUNY Maritime

A Few Tight Races Secured the Score at 124-90

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (3-2) won the 200 free relay for the second straight year against SUNY Maritime (1-0), however, the team fell to the Privateers, 124-90, Oct. 30.

TOP PERFORMERS:

The Pioneers out-touched the Privateers in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.11. Junior Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) (23.13), junior Jimmy Sharkey (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) (24.09), sophomore Vincent Giallombardo (Cottage Grove, Wisc./Monona Grove) (23.14), and senior Drew Macchia (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) (22.75) each pulled their weight.
Sharkey collected both a victory and a personal best time of 10:55.35 in the 1000 free. He also came in a close second place and earned another personal best in the 500 free with a time of 5:07.51.
Sophomore Vincent Giallombardo (Cottage Grove, Wisc./Monona Grove) recorded a time of 2:09.43 to tally a victory in the 200 IM.
Senior Drew Macchia (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) touched the wall first in the 100 free with a time of 51.04.

WP travels to Rowan on Friday, Nov. 9, at 5:00 p.m. for the start of NJAC competition.
