Allen Converts Twice for 2-0 Men’s Soccer Victory

Pioneers Defeat DeSales Behind Penalty Kick, Free Kick

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Junior midfielder Cameron Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./Saint John Vianney) converted a penalty kick and a free kick for the Pioneers, allowing the William Paterson men's soccer team (7-3-1) to register a 2-0 victory against visiting DeSales (4-5-1) Oct. 3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior forward Keysean Brant-Sharp (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) created the first opportunity when he jumped on a slow pass played back by a defender and was fouled by charging Bulldog goalkeeper Jake McKinney. Allen buried the penalty kick with 2:56 remaining in the first half for his fourth goal of the season and a 1-0 Pioneer edge.
  • Brant-Sharp was fouled hard again, this time at the edge of the box in the 84th minute. Allen's free kick evaded the wall and found the inside of the left post, a late insurance goal that secured the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior goalkeeper Kyle Quigley (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) made two saves for his second shutout of the season and 11th of his career.

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson travels to Stockton Saturday, Oct. 6, for a 3:00 p.m. conference match.
