Men's Swimming and Diving Wins Seven of Eleven Races but Falls Short at Baruch

Three Pioneers Recorded Double-Winner Status

Junior Jimmy Sharkey won both the 800-M free and the 400-M free.
New York, N.Y. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (3-1) took home seven of 11 races, but suffered a close 106-99 loss at Baruch (1-0) on Oct. 23.   
 
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Senior Drew Macchia (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was a double winner by swimming the 50-M free in 26.00, and the 100-M free in 57.97.
  • Jimmy Sharkey (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) touched the wall first in the 800-M free with a time of 9:48.88.  The junior then went on to win the 400-M free with a time of 4:48.72 to become a double winner. 
  • Vincent Giallombardo (Cottage Grove, Wisc./Monona Grove) finished first in two races.  He completed the 200-M IM in 2:26.73 and the 100-M breast in 1:14.81. 
  • Junior Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.), Sharkey, Giallombardo, and Macchia worked to take home the 200-M free relay in 1:46.06. 
 
 
UP NEXT:
  • WP returns to Wightman Pool on Tuesday, Oct. 30, to compete against Maritime at 6:00 p.m.
