Adelman Scores Twice and Hickey Registers Shutout for Pioneers

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Behind a pair of Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) goals, the William Paterson women's soccer team (6-9, 2-5 NJAC) earned a 2-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory against visiting Kean (4-6-4, 2-3-2 NJAC) Oct. 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Sophomore forward Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) played a ball from the end line into the box, and Adelman picked up the deflection off the defender, spun and fired from eight yards out to the right side of the frame. Her 14th goal of the season made it a 1-0 WP advantage in the 32nd minute.
  • Bowe connected again with Adelman, this time in the 61st minute on a pass that Adelman converted from a tough angle on the left side to the right portion of the goal.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) made five saves for her fifth shutout of the season, tying her for 10th place on the WP single-season list.
  • The league leader in goals (15) and points (33), Adelman is now tied for eighth in goals and tied for ninth in game-winning goals (four) on the Pioneer single-season charts. She also rates third in goals (48) and points (110), and fourth in game-winning goals (10), on the WP career lists.
  • With three games yet to be completed today around the league, the Pioneers (six points) are tied for seventh in the NJAC standings with two regular-season matches remaining. The top six teams will qualify for the NJAC Tournament that begins Oct. 27.
