Drew Macchia (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and senior
Sammuel Melendez (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) both turned in single-winning outings and senior
Anthony Taboadela (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) secured two victories but the although the William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (12-3, 0-3 NJAC) dropped its final road meet of the regular season, 137-68, at Ramapo (4-4, 1-3 NJAC) Jan. 30.
The loss marks the first time the Pioneers have lost back-to-back meets on the season, a testament to the consistency of the Orange and Black in the pool this season.
With 39 individual triumphs, Taboadela's double-winning night allowed him to eclipse 40 victories on the season as he reeled in first-place times in the 200 IM (2:01.82) and 200 back (1:58.24).
Macchia's triumph came in the 50 free (23.23) and Melendez raced to touch the pad first in the 200 fly (2:04.32). Macchia was only .06 second off the pace in the 100 free, coming in second in the event (51.16), while sophomore teammate
Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) also turned in a strong time just behind Macchia at 51.93.
The WP men will conclude the regular season with a home meet against the No. 15 Lions of The College of New Jersey (3-4, 2-1 NJAC) Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1:00 p.m.
