WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson junior goalie
Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) made a career-best 16 saves but the Pioneer field hockey team (2-8, 0-2 NJAC) suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 4 The College of New Jersey (6-2, 1-0 NJAC) Sept. 30.
Sophomore forward/midfielder Kayla Peterson dribbled through traffic and found the back of the cage to give the Lions a 1-0 edge in the sixth minute, and freshman forward Tori Tiefenthaler made it a 2-0 score 11 minutes later when she connected on an Elizabeth Morrison long drive from the right side. Tiefenthaler cleaned up a loose ball at the right post during a penalty corner, her second goal of the day that pushed it to a 3-0 margin less than five minutes before halftime.
Sophomore back
Alexis Land (Monroe, N.J./Monroe Twp.) made her fifth defensive save of the season for WP, and senior goalie Christina Fabiano had two stops for TCNJ.
William Paterson will return to action Wednesday, Oct. 4, at No. 5 Montclair State at 7:00 p.m.
