PURCHASE, N.Y. – Freshman
Daisey Ferraiuolo (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.), sophomore
Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) and junior
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) posted two wins apiece and the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (5-1) captured 10 of 11 events as it upended SUNY Purchase (1-6), 84-69, on the road Nov. 14.
Ferraiuolo had her best meet of her rookie season, setting personal bests with her first-place times in the 1,000 free (13:06.06) and 500 free (6:12.17). The freshman cut roughly 18 seconds from her best pace in the 1,000 free and shaved eight seconds from her previous fastest time in the 500 free.
Jenkins posted her second double-winning meet of the year, posting a 2017-18 personal record in the 200 IM (2:44.51) and another win in the 100 breast (1:18.18). Reynolds has won at least one event in all six meets this season, continuing that Tuesday by claiming the 50 free (27.35) and 100 back (1:04.79).
Two underclassmen garnered single wins for WP, with sophomore
Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) reaching the wall first in the 100 fly (1:07.23) and freshman
Kelsey Vespe (Mt. Ephraim, N.J./Audubon) besting all swimmers with a 1:01.80 to claim the 100 free.
WP opened and closed the meet with wins in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. Sophomore
Janice Costa (Clifton, N.J./Bergen Arts and Science), Jenkins, Boyton and Vespe brought home 11 points by winning the 200 medley relay (2:06.90), while the group of junior
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack), Ferraiuolo, Diva and Reynolds won the latter by 17.10 seconds. Reynolds had the fastest split of the quartet, finishing in 27.43.
The Pioneers are off until they host Old Westbury Saturday, Dec. 2, at 1:00 p.m. as part of Parent Appreciation Day. WP edged the Panthers 88-85 on the road last season.
