KENNILWORTH, N.J. – The William Paterson golf team was edged out by New Jersey City University 328-335 in a dual match held at Galloping Hill Golf Course Sunday afternoon.
Â
Sophomore
Jake Imbasciani (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) led William Paterson with a round of 78, his second sub-80 round of the season. Imbasciani birdied the par-four 2nd hole to begin his day, leading to an outward score of 40. Six pars on the back-nine helped him card a 38 to finish second among the 11 golfers.
Â
Junior
Troy Hartung (Hawthorne, N.J./Passaic County Tech) finished third with his lowest round of the season, carding an 81. It was a tale of two nines for the Hawthorne native, who did not record a par on the front-nine, heading out with a 47. Hartung turned things around on the back nine however, as he became the first golfer to shoot under par against NJCU at Galloping Hill, firing a one-under par 34 on the inward nine. Hartung recorded seven consecutive pars to begin the back nine before recording a birdie on the par-four 17th and closing with a par on 18.

Fellow junior
William Rose (Totowa, N.J./Passaic Valley) carded an 86 to finish third in the Pioneer lineup, posting eight pars and a birdie on the day. Rounding out the scoring for WP was freshman
Jack Maloney (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) who posted a round of 90 in his second collegiate round. Maloney posted four pars on the day en route to two 45's on both nines.
Â
Junior Bobby Williams led the Gothic Knights with a 75, the lowest round recorded for NJCU at Galloping Hill.
