MAHWAH, N.J. – William Paterson (6-2-1, 1-2 NJAC) rolled to a 6-2 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) women's soccer victory Sept. 28 at Ramapo (1-6-1, 0-3 NJAC).
The Roaadrunners struck first when sophomore midfielder Gabrielle Gentilucci finished off a scramble in the 14th minute.
Senior back
Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) headed in a pass from junior back
Adrianna Oliveira (Union, N.J./Union) at the 31:56 mark to knot the score, and sophomore back
Darcy Perez's (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) 30-yard free kick handed the Pioneers a 2-1 edge 2:22 before halftime.
Ramapo leveled the game with a Skyler Rybacki strike in the 58th minute, but Oliveira pushed WP ahead for good with an unassisted goal at the 61:15 mark. Freshman forward
Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) extended the lead with goals in the 68th and 72nd minutes, and classmate
Carla LaRocca (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) beat the keeper from 18 yards out to make it a 6-2 margin with 5:07 to play.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Angela Sandelli (Landing, N.J./Roxbury) collected one save for WP, and freshman Elizabeth Harvell's 11 stops were aided by two Roadrunner team saves as the Pioneers out-shot Ramapo, 23-8.
William Paterson will celebrate Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 1, against New Jersey City at 5:30 p.m.
