WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (4-4) lost a 6-0 field hockey decision against visiting Vassar (6-1) Sept. 19.
The Brewers found the back of the cage less than six minutes into the contest when sophomore midfielder/back Monica Feeley received a corner insert from sophomore forward Mikayla Young, side-stepped a defender and fired to the middle of the goal.
Senior forward Hayley Beach made it 2-0 in the 21st minute when she finished a flurry of shots and saves on the goal line. Two minutes later, sophomore midfielder/forward Megan Caveny sent a pass to senior midfielder/back Lauren Shumate, who drilled a shot for her second goal of the season. Sophomore Alysa More added an unassisted goal 4:30 before halftime, dribbling into the circle and beating the WP goalie 1v1.
Freshman midfielder Cristina Lopez found the inside of the post during the 39th minute for an unassisted goal, and sophomore midfielder Gracie Tavakkol converted a Rylie Pope pass into the final goal of the night, scored at the 67:42 mark.

Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) made eight saves for the Pioneers, and senior midfielder
Meghin Stanton (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) added three defensive saves. Sophomore Paige Amico finished with two stops for Vassar, and combined with freshman Liz Rotolo for the shutout.
The Pioneers will visit Union Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 6:00 p.m.
