WAYNE, N.J. – Freshman forward Michaela Meillier (Lt. Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross) provided the lone goal in the fifth minute as the William Paterson field hockey team (4-1) shut out Arcadia (0-5), 1-0, on the back of a strong defensive effort.

For the second time in as many games, Meillier scored the game's first goal, weaving through defenders on the right wing before sneaking one between the legs of the Arcadia goalie for the 1-0 advantage.

The Pioneers would threaten numerous times, putting seven shots on goal for the evening, four of which came off the stick of junior forward Carly Satter (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional).

Tense moments ensued in the second half with Arcadia having six opportunities at penalty corners. Sophomore goalie Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) helped quell the threats though, notching her fourth straight shutout while making a save.

Senior goalie Brittany Hodson made six saves for the Knights.

WP looks to keep the winning streak going on Thursday, Sept. 15, at Albright. The action will start at 7:00 p.m.
