WAYNE, N.J. – A 16-1 difference in shots on goal was indicative of the final result, as William Paterson (3-1) used goals from freshman forward
Michaela Meillier (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross), senior back
Jessie Super (Oaklyn, N.J./Collingswood) and senior forward
Maureen Gill (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) for a 3-0 field hockey victory against Moravian (0-3) Sept. 10 at Wightman Stadium.
Meillier was the first to strike, slipping a shot past the goalie from the right wing, putting WP up 1-0 in the 11th minute.
WP's continued pressure and control of the game paid off when Super corralled a rebound and slotted a goal home at the 39:47 mark.
Just seconds later, senior midfielder
Courtney Allen (Woodbine, N.J./Ocean City) found Gill on the left side, who struck the back of the cage for the 3-0 advantage.
Sophomore
Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) only had to fend off one Greyhound shot on the day, registering her third straight shutout victory. Moravian's goalie, Megan Kanyuk, finished with nine saves.
The Pioneers will host Arcadia Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7:00 p.m.
