WAYNE, N.J. - The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (9-1) had four double winners in a well-rounded performance as it topped Brooklyn (2-3), 114-78, Dec. 10.
Senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) posted a pair of season bests, winning the 200 IM (2:16.27) and 200 breast (2:26.39). Sophomore
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) won the 1,650 free (20:38.06) and registered a season best to win the 500 free (5:51.88). Sophomore
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) added wins in the 50 free (26.99) and 200 back (2:20.66), a personal-best mark.
In diving, freshman
Ashley Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) garnered victories in the one-meter (176.95) and three-meter (177.70) dives.
The Pioneers had two single winners, including freshman
Janice Costa (Clifton, N.J/Bergen Arts and Science) in the 100 free (1:02.99) and sophomore
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack), who touched first to claim the 200 fly (2:35.57).
WP also won each of the two relays it competed in. Reynolds, Blazevska, Pineda and Murphy combined to win the 400 medley relay (4:21.09), and senior
Cassandra Beck (Lusby, Md./Patuxent), freshman
Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional), junior
Katelyn Diva (North Haledon, N.J./Paramus Catholic) and Costa won the 400 free relay (4:17.35).
The Pioneers will travel to train in Barbados before they go to Queens Thursday, Jan. 12, at 4:00 p.m.
