STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (7-0) stayed perfect by cruising past Staten Island (2-1), 144-80, Nov. 8.
Senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) led as a triple winner, touching first in the 200 IM (2:32.43), 500 free (5:58.61) and 100 breast (1:11.23).
Freshman
Ashley Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) swept diving, winning the one-meter (173.65) and three-meter (150.20) events to propel WP.
The Pioneers were also aided by three single winners. Sophomore
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) won the 100 back (1:05.98), sophomore
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) claimed the 100 fly (1:07.36), and sophomore
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) came from behind in the final length to win the 200 free (2:14.67) by a difference of .03.
WP also bested CSI in the 200 free relay behind Murphy, Pineda, senior
Cassandra Beck (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) and Reynolds (1:52.22).
William Paterson begins New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) competition as it heads to Rowan Friday, Nov. 11, at 6:00 p.m.
