WAYNE, N.J. - The William Paterson women's swimming and diving (8-1) team stayed perfect in non-conference competition with a 107-80 victory against Purchase (3-4) Nov. 15.
Senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) led the Pioneers as a triple winner, securing the 200 IM (2:33.73), 500 free (5:50.76) and 100 breast (1:13.45).
Freshman diver
Ashley Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) was a double winner, garnering victories in the one-meter (173.10) and three-meter (166.20) dives.
WP had a pair of individuals swim season bests as well. Sophomore
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) won the 100 back (1:04.11), while sophomore
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) placed second in the 500 free (5:55.27). Murphy also came away with the victory in the 1,000 free (12:18.36).
Freshman
Janice Costa (Clifton, N.J./Bergen Arts and Science) was another single winner for WP, taking the 100 free (1:02.22).
Costa anchored WP's win in the 200 medley relay as well, combining with Reynolds,
Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) and
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) for a time of 2:04.96.
WP will be back in action when it hosts Brooklyn Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1:00 p.m.
