Tennis Falls Short at Drew, 5-4

Pioneers Led by Double Winner LaBruna

Junior Brianna Boyd registered an 8-4 first-doubles win at Drew.

MADISON, N.J. – The William Paterson tennis team (1-8) fell just short at Drew (1-1), 5-4, Oct. 5.

Senior Brittany LaBruna (Bloomingdale, N.J./Continental Academy) earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at first singles, and sophomore Stephanie Doot (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) posted a 6-3, 6-3 third-singles win.

LaBruna and junior Brianna Boyd (Delran, N.J./Delran) were 8-4 winners at first doubles, while sophomore Jessica Papin-Yukhtanova (Newton, N.J./Newton) and freshman Kaworu Ishikawa (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) combined for an 8-5 victory at second doubles.

The Pioneers will compete at the NJAIAW Tournament Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-9, at Drew.
