NEWARK, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (13-4-1, 5-4 NJAC) finished the regular season with a 3-1 victory at Rutgers-Newark (1-14-2, 0-9 NJAC) Oct. 26.
The sixth-seeded Pioneers will play at third-seeded Montclair State (14-3-1, 7-2 NJAC) Saturday, Oct. 29, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament first round at 1:00 p.m.
Senior midfielder
Sidney Gabrich (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) sent a cross from the right corner that freshman forward
Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) chipped in for a 1-0 Pioneer edge 26:21 into the contest.
On a set piece, sophomore back
Darcy Perez (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) lofted a ball that a charging
Diana Perez (Ocean Twp., N.J./Ocean Twp.) banged off the post and in eight minutes into the second half.
Senior back
Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) headed in a corner kick from junior back
Adrianna Oliveira (Union, N.J./Union) for a 3-0 lead in the 57th minute.
The Scarlet Raiders got on the scoreboard at the 61:02 mark when junior forward Haley Savva finished a Juliana Ceballos pass.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Torii Zamorski (Linden, N.J./Union Catholic) had four saves for WP, and junior Diana Carvalho made three stops for Rutgers-Newark.
