WAYNE, N.J. – Senior
Brittany LaBruna (Bloomingdale, N.J./Continental Academy) finished off a perfect New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) first-singles career and the William Paterson tennis team (1-7, 1-5 NJAC) celebrated Senior Day with an 8-1 victory against Rutgers-Camden (0-6, 0-4 NJAC) Oct. 2.
LaBruna defeated freshman Annalise Kipp 6-1, 6-1 to run her career first-singles conference record to 23-0. League records are incomplete, but it is believed that LaBruna is the first player to finish a four-year career with a perfect record against NJAC first-singles competition.
Sophomore
Stephanie Doot (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at third singles, and junior
Brianna Boyd (Delran, N.J./Delran) was a 6-1, 6-3 victor at fourth singles. Sophomore
Jessica Papin-Yukhtanova (Newton, N.J./Newton) triumphed at fifth singles 6-1, 6-1, while freshman
Michele Boyle (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Twp.) completed a 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles.
LaBruna and Boyd posted an 8-2 victory at first doubles, Papin-Yukhtanova and freshman
Kaworu Ishikawa (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) were 8-0 winners at second doubles, and Doot and Boyle earned an 8-0 victory at third doubles.
