Pioneers Tie Rutgers-Camden, 1-1 in Double Overtime

CAMDEN, N.J. – William Paterson (2-3-2, 0-0-1 NJAC) started New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) women's soccer play with a 1-1, double-overtime draw at Rutgers-Camden (3-2-1, 0-0-1) Sept. 19.

The Pioneers jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage when sophomore midfielder Rachel Rivell (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) played a long ball up the middle and junior midfielder Sidney Gabrich (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) ran on to it, finishing the breakaway opportunity just 3:40 into the contest.

The Scarlet Raptors got the equalizer in the 62nd minute when senior Lauren Celona's shot was blocked and classmate Casandra Torres finished the rebound at the far post.

Senior Kat Clint (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) posted four saves for the Pioneers, and sophomore Katie Gurba collected seven stops for Rutgers-Camden.
