Video Highlights WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (2-4-1, 0-1 NJAC) dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Rutgers-Camden (5-1-1, 1-0 NJAC) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opener for both teams Sept. 19.
Senior midfielder Connor Hurff dribbled across the top of the box and finished to the bottom-right corner of the frame for a 1-0 Scarlet Raptor advantage in the 17th minute.
Junior midfielder
Frank Tucker (Sicklerville, N.J./Pennsauken) evened the score at the 63:16 mark, sending a
Musa Sackoon (North Plainfield, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) pass to the upper-right corner with his left foot.
Senior forward Mike Ryan put Rutgers-Camden back on top four minutes later, striking to the bottom right from the top of the box off an assist from Hurff.
The Scarlet Raptors were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box at the 78:41 mark, and senior midfielder Grant Taylor slotted the PK into the right side of the net.
Freshman
Mike Villegas (Bergenfield, N.J./Pascack Valley) made one save for the Pioneers during the first 51:21 of action, and freshman
Jordan Fernandes (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) had two stops in the final 38:39. Freshman James Brett made four saves for Rutgers-Camden.
William Paterson will finish its three-match homestand Wednesday, Sept. 23, against Immaculata at 7:00 p.m.
