Men’s Soccer Dominates in 4-2 Victory

Pioneers Have Four Different Goal Scorers Against Immaculata

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Four different Pioneers got into the scoring column as the William Paterson men's soccer team (3-4-1) rolled to a 4-2 victory against visiting Immaculata (2-5) Sept. 23.

The Mighty Macs took advantage of an early slip of a WP defender, allowing junior Kyle Jumalon to get free and shoot to the lower-left corner of the frame 2:43 into the contest.

Junior midfielder Musa Sackoon (North Plainfield, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) was dragged down in the box, earning a penalty kick that senior back Scherdlens Jean Pierre (Irvington, N.J./Irvington) buried for a 1-1 score at the 39:05 mark.

The Pioneers took the lead less than five minutes later when junior midfielder Antonio Bianes' (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Twp.) shot from the top of the box was stopped by Immaculata keeper Joe Lubonski, but junior forward Fabian Allen (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) jumped on the loose ball on the left end line and struck into the right side netting 69 seconds before halftime.

WP added to its lead in the 77th minute when senior back Aken Pierre (North Plainfield, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) headed a ball across the box to the right side where Sackoon collected it and converted into the left side netting.

Sophomore midfielder Dante Petrocelli (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) launched a corner kick toward the left side of the box and senior forward Jason Padilla (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) had his initial shot blocked, but Pierre finished the rebound for a 4-1 margin at the 78:33 mark.

The Might Macs added a goal in the 86th minute when sophomore Gabe Dwyer scored from 20 yards out off an assist by senior Joe Wier.

Freshman Jordan Fernandes (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) made three saves for WP, and Lubonski had 13 stops as the Pioneers owned a 26-7 shot advantage.

William Paterson will play at Ramapo Saturday, Sept. 26, at 1:00 p.m.
