CENTER VALLEY, PA. – The William Paterson field hockey team (3-4) was upended by host DeSales (1-5) during the closing seconds, 2-1, Sept. 19.
Freshman Chelsea DeFrancisco gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 edge when she tipped in senior Meryah Harding's shot from the top of the circle in the 29th minute.
Senior forward
Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) converted a pass from sophomore forward
Carly Satter (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) at the 40:52 mark, leveling the score at 1-1 and scoring her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
DeSales collected the go-ahead goal with 37 seconds remaining when Harding finished a give-and-go with sophomore Kelly Meade.
Senior
Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) had one save for WP, and freshman Savanna Lacek posted 11 stops for the Bulldogs as the Pioneers owned a 19-7 shot advantage.
William Paterson will play at Western Connecticut Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 5:00 p.m.
