Video Highlights WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (2-3-1) played to a 0-0, double-overtime draw with Manhattanville (3-2-1) during the Pioneers' home opener Sept. 16.
WP built a 19-8 shot advantage during regulation but could not find the back of the net despite several quality chances, while the Valiants didn't threaten to break the scoreless deadlock until the final 10 minutes of the second half.
Manhattanville had the best opportunity of the extra time when senior Eddie Silber's point-blank shot was blocked in the box during the opening moments of the first overtime.
Freshman
Mike Villegas (Bergenfield, N.J./Pascack Valley) made four saves for the Pioneers, while senior Willie Silber finished with nine stops for the Valiants.
William Paterson will start conference play at home, taking on Rutgers-Camden Saturday, Sept. 19, at 6:00 p.m.
