BETHLEHEM, PA. – Senior forward
Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) provided a pair of goals and the William Paterson field hockey team (2-3) handed Moravian (3-1) its first loss of the season, 5-1, Sept. 12.
Giammetta got the Pioneers on the scoreboard just 2:03 into the contest, knocking in a pass from senior midfielder
Felicia Wetzel (Point Pleasant, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional). Freshman forward
Heather Clark (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) made it a 2-0 lead in the 15th minute, scoring her first career goal off an assist from sophomore forward
Carly Satter (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional).
Giammetta converted a rebound at the 30:41 mark for her second goal of the day, and senior midfielder
Mollie Kearns (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) picked up her first goal of the season with an unassisted strike 15 minutes into the second half.
Sophomore midfielder
Nicole Andes (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) found the back of the cage for her first career points off an assist from Wetzel, making it a 5-0 margin at the 53:49 mark.
The Greyhounds scored their lone goal on a penalty corner after time had expired when senior Kelly O'Donnell finished junior Kyla Rodrigues' pass.
Senior
Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) did not make a save while playing all 70:00 for the Pioneers, and junior Megan Kanyuk posted 11 stops for Moravian.
William Paterson will play at Drew Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7:00 p.m.
