Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) scored in the 88th minute, helping the William Paterson women's soccer team (2-1-1) secure a dramatic 2-1 victory at Centenary (1-3) Sept. 9.
Junior midfielder
Amanda Carmichael (Matawan, N.J./Matawan Regional) handed the Pioneers an early 1-0 edge when WP pulled off a double header on a corner-kick play. Senior midfielder
Elena Grady (Washington Twp., N.J./Our Lady of Mercy) and sophomore back
Adrianna Oliveira (Union, N.J./Union) were credited with the assists at the 12:47 mark.
The Cyclones leveled the score in the 38th minute as freshman Amanda Marcarro ran onto a long Emily Pizzuto cross and finished to the right side of the frame.
With just 2:19 remaining in regulation, Woetzel provided the game winner when she connected on Oliveira's corner kick to the middle of the box.
Senior
Kat Clint (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) collected three saves for the Pioneers, and sophomore Kaitlin Marold had seven Centenary stops.
William Paterson will host FDU-Florham Saturday, Sept. 12, at 12:00 p.m.
