Softball to Face Ramapo in NJAC Tournament Friday

Third-Seeded Pioneers, Second-Seeded Roadrunners to Play at 3:00 p.m.

WAYNE, N.J. – Third-seeded William Paterson (27-9-1, 13-5 NJAC) will face second-seeded Ramapo (25-11-1, 13-4-1 NJAC) in the second round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Softball Tournament Friday, May 1, at 3:00 p.m. at Rowan University. Live statistics and live video will be available.
 
WP students with ID will be admitted for free. General Admission is $5.00, and students, children 12 and under, and senior citizens will be admitted for $2.00.
 
Top-seeded Rowan will host the remainder of the double-elimination tournament Friday-Sunday, May 1-3. Saturday's schedule will be determined after the completion of Friday's play.
 
The Pioneers own a 14-game win streak dating back to April 12, and are coming off a 5-0 first-round victory against fourth-seeded The College of New Jersey (19-11, 12-6 NJAC) April 28. Ramapo defeated fifth-seeded Kean (23-10-1, 11-6-1 NJAC) in the first round, 8-2. Earlier this season, Ramapo earned 4-3 and 4-2 victories at William Paterson on April 11. The Pioneers are looking to win their fifth NJAC Tournament title (1999, 2003, 2005, 2009).
 
Sophomore infielder Rachel Wasilak (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) leads the WP everyday players with a .376 batting average, posting team highs of nine doubles and 29 RBI while adding three triples and 21 runs scored. Senior outfielder Kelsey Principe (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) is hitting .327 with a team-best 10 sacrifice bunts, five triples and 24 runs scored.
 
Sophomore Allison Podmajersky (Red Bank, N.J./Middletown South) is 11-4 with a 1.04 earned-run average in 15 starts and 19 appearances inside the circle, posting 111 strikeouts and 19 walks in 114.0 innings pitched. She is coming of a no-hitter tossed against the Lions in the first round. Classmate Gabrielle Castelli (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) is 10-4 with a 1.47 ERA in 11 starts and 15 appearances with 59 strikeouts and 17 walks in 71.1 innings. She also is hitting .364 in 44 at-bats while posting four doubles and 15 RBI.
