Women’s Basketball Drops Decision at No. 9/11 Montclair State

Pioneers Suffer 86-61 Loss to Red Hawks

MONTCLAIR, N.J – The William Paterson women's basketball team (11-9, 7-6 NJAC) suffered an 86-61 loss at No. 9/11 Montclair State (20-1, 13-1 NJAC) Feb. 4. Junior forward Mary Haines (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) paced the Pioneers with 14 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
 
Junior guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) finished with 13 tallies and a game-best three steals, while freshman guard Jackie Rodriguez (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) contributed 11 points, the 11th double-digit effort of her rookie season.
 
After the Pioneers scored the first two points of the contest, the Red Hawks reeled off a 30-3 run and led 48-18 at the break.  WP outscored MSU 43-38 during the second period.
 
Senior forward/guard Melissa Tobie led Montclair State with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman forward Taylor Harmon added 13 tallies and eight boards.
 
William Paterson will host Rutgers-Newark on Play 4Kay Breast Cancer Awareness Day Saturday, Feb. 7, at 3:00 p.m.
