Late Goal Gives Field Hockey a 3-2 Victory

Satter Scores in Final Moments for Pioneers Against Misericordia

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore forward Carly Satter (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) scored with 1:32 remaining to give the William Paterson field hockey team (8-4) a 3-2 victory against visiting Misericordia (2-9) Oct. 8.

Senior midfielder Mollie Kearns (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) handed the Pioneers the lead 4:38 into the contest when she connected at the left post on a long diagonal ball from senior midfielder McKenna Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran).

Senior midfielder Felicia Wetzel (Point Pleasant, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) made it a 2-0 game 18 minutes later, punching in an unassisted strike from five yards out for her third goal of the season.

The Cougars cut the lead in half at the 25:16 mark when sophomore Colby Eldridge cleaned up a rebound. Misericordia then tied the game up five minutes into the second half as Eldridge's pass from the right wing found freshman Kailey Vogl at the far post.

With time winding down, Satter took a shot from the end line that cut along the tough angle and crossed the goal line, allowing WP to register its fifth straight win.

Senior goalie Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) collected four saves for the Pioneers. Senior Angela Pasquini had two Cougar stops.

William Paterson will host Union Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7:00 p.m.
