EWING, N.J. – Three different Pioneers got into the scoring column but it wasn't enough as the William Paterson men's soccer team (5-9-2, 1-6-1 NJAC) dropped a 4-3 decision at The College of New Jersey (10-4-2, 4-4 NJAC) Oct. 24.
The Lions took the lead early when freshman back Joerg Jauk broke down the sideline and senior back Andrew Kimball finished his cross at the 3:52 mark.
Junior midfielder
Hamilton Pereira (Newark, N.J./East Side) leveled the score in the 43rd minute, picking up a loose ball and driving a shot from 20 yards out for his first career goal.
Junior midfielder Nick Costelloe made it a 3-1 TCNJ advantage with a pair of strikes, the first at the 48:04 mark off an assist from junior forward Thomas Hogue, and the second at the 59:29 mark after a pass by sophomore forward Michael Kassak.
Freshman back Nick Provenzano tapped in a ball from Hogue to make it a 4-1 game with 28:00 remaining, but the Pioneers were awarded a penalty kick in the 66th minute. Junior Jake Nesteruk saved the initial attempt, but senior back
Aken Pierre (North Plainfield, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) cleaned up his own rebound for a 4-2 margin.
