MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Senior forward
Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) scored the equalizer but the William Paterson field hockey team (10-5, 3-1 NJAC) couldn't overcome No. 9 Montclair State (13-3, 3-1 NJAC), 3-1, Oct. 21.
An unassisted goal by sophomore Kaitlyn Struss made it a 1-0 Red Hawk advantage 9:58 into the contest, but Giammetta answered with an unassisted strike of her own in the 22nd minute for her ninth goal of the season.
Struss found the back of the cage again at the 49:59 mark, finishing an Arielle Gargallo pass, and she completed a hat trick in the 59th minute off an assist from junior Megan Roeloffs.
Senior goalie
Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) matched her career high with 14 saves, and sophomore midfielder
Nicole Andes (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) added a defensive save as WP saw its seven-game win streak snapped. Senior Rebecca Brattole posted seven stops for MSU.
William Paterson will host No. 2 The College of New Jersey Saturday, Oct. 24, at 5:30 p.m.
