Rivell’s Overtime Goal Hands Women’s Soccer 1-0 Victory

Pioneers Give Staten Island Its First Home Loss of Season

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder Rachel Rivell (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) scored in the 92nd minute to hand the William Paterson women's soccer team (4-9-2) a 1-0 overtime victory at Staten Island (10-3-1) Oct. 20.
 
Rivell headed in senior midfielder Gina Cowdrick's (Island Heights, N.J./Central Regional) corner kick 1:01 into the extra time for the match's lone goal, causing the Dolphins to suffer their first home loss of the season in the process.
 
Senior Kat Clint (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) did not need to make a save to record the WP shutout, while senior Kristy Colangelo posted nine stops for CSI due to the Pioneers' 16-4 shot advantage.
 
William Paterson will celebrate Senior Night Saturday, Oct. 24, when the Pioneers host No. 7 The College of New Jersey at 5:00 p.m.
