Sackoon’s Strike Hands Men’s Soccer 1-0 Double-Overtime Win

Pioneers Defeat Visiting Kean on Homecoming

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Junior midfielder Musa Sackoon (North Plainfield, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) found the back of the net in the 104th minute and the William Paterson men's soccer team (4-5-2, 1-2-1 NJAC) came away with a 1-0 double-overtime Homecoming victory against Kean (12-2, 3-1 NJAC) Oct. 10.

Junior forward Fabian Allen (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) got the ball to Sackoon inside the box, and he sent a shot under the crossbar for his 10th goal and third game winner of the season.

The Cougars had a number of dangerous chances, including a shot high by freshman Vaughn Cusano as time expired at the end of regulation, and a breakaway up the middle by junior Kenny Rocha that resulted in a Nico Martirano (Madison, N.J./Madison) save at the end of the first overtime period. Kean owned a 22-8 shot advantage during the match.

Martirano made 10 saves in goal for the Pioneers, and freshman Chidi Iloka had two stops for the Cougars.

William Paterson will play at Rutgers-Newark Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m.
